A Rejection of National Liberalism
Why Democrats Are Not Your Friend

Who is Elissa Slotkin?
The junior Senator in Michigan and an up and coming player in the Democratic Party. In fact, she was chosen to speak after Donald Trump at his de facto State of the Union speech months back in March.
Within seconds, her speech referenced 9/11 and her early desire to work in national security.
9/11 was a day that none of us will forget. How it came to be and what it would lead to? Depends on the perspective.
Elissa Slotkin’s perspective is that of a loyal imperialist. She is a former CIA analyst who also logged time in the Department of Defense. That desire to work in national security… she meant it.
Remember, national security is the standard line that rationalizes why we drop bombs and destabilize governments across the globe… national security is necessary to keep you and I safe and has nothing to do with ensuring resource access for our corporations to pursue profit at the expense of human rights for those whose only crime is not being born in the USA, but in a region with natural wealth that we want.
She has worked beneath both republicans and democrats, a true bipartisan type… how enlightened! How quickly people forget that Biden set records for deportations. I’m sure ICE was much kinder and gentler in those times of blue.
She even managed to praise Reagan at one point, the architect of American neoliberalism himself! The direct quote in case you are wondering was,
“Reagan understood that true strength required America to combine our military and economic might with moral clarity.”
Was the war in Afghanistan or Iraq moral clarity? Is the current genocide that Israel is committing against the Palestinian people that we offer bipartisan support through funding, weapons, and international protection from any blowback more of that same moral clarity?
She would continue,
“Look, America's not perfect. But I stand with most Americans who believe we are still exceptional. Unparalleled.”
Oh how exciting, more uncritical American exceptionalism which fails to understand just how destructive of a nation we are. American exceptionalism is nothing more than glorified national narcissism.
Sometimes, people do offer you a grain of truth in the myriad of bullshit that they spew like when Slotkin offered the following,
“And we are never satisfied. That is America's superpower.”
On that we agree. American corporations and their greed are never satisfied and it’s why we’re leading the charge to ruin the climate and witnessing increasing and unprecedented wealth inequality. The elite are never content with what they have, they always want more… and who pays that price?
Recently, Slotkin announced she has a “war plan” in response to Donald Trump. She believes that Democrats have become “weak and woke” and it is why they are losing to Republicans.
Weak? No doubt, Democrats are vapid and spineless… the political nice guy meant to be agreeable in order to offer stability for the empire.
Woke? I reject this. Democrats are not woke, and the idea that the lip service they offer to structural inequities is why they are losing is not only laughable, it is sinister and dangerous.
The word woke originates from the 1920s, from Black culture. It simply meant that one was aware of the structural oppression that American institutions create, the racism that America was always built on… and Elissa Slotkin thinks that this understanding and acknowledgement is why Democrats are losing? Imagine mocking fascists for their cruelty while mimicking their rhetoric.
The days of Democrats vs Republicans are long gone… it is clear that what we have at the national level are Republicans and Trumpers.
Don’t take my word for it… go check out Gavin Newsom’s latest rhetoric and actions as he tries to prepare for a 2028 Presidential run. He was recently seen cozying up with Charlie Kirk when he platformed Kirk on his new podcast, apparently his son is a fan! Or there is his belief that conversations about Kilmar Abrego Garcia and due process are a distraction. Let’s not forget his desire to work with Trump to “Make American Films Great Again”. Actions that offer no confidence in his “committed” opposition to fascism.
At some point Democrats and Liberals will have to wake up and realize that so many of the things they hate about Trump… are simply bipartisan American traditions. Trump says it in a juvenile crass way, Democrats with sophistication and a warm smile.
Both parties are pro empire. They are both pro capitalism, pro imperialism, pro colonialism, pro cop, pro military, pro corporation, pro big bank, pro Wall Street, pro Zionism, pro genocide… in other words,both parties are pro oppression.
All the things that prevent everyday Americans from sharing in that fake american dream… all the things that prevent global human rights.
Liberal hypocrisy is mocking Republicans for their anti woke and anti DEI positions… while remaining silent as their desired politicians begin to adopt the same rhetoric. As Trumpers move to the right, blue republicans like Schumer, Slotkin and Newsome shift with them.
Americans are scared because they believe that fascism has emerged. I’d challenge that notion and point out the fact that fascism has always been here, it was what we were founded upon… it is in our very DNA. The difference is, the privileged class is feeling it as the empire turns itself to look internally as capitalism cannibalizes itself creating more instability. The myth is shattering before our eyes… so I’d leave you with a famous poem that we don’t seem to take to heart. You want to be an anti-fascist, good. Abandon your liberalism and consider who have always been the most dedicated anti-fascists in history.
“First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me.”
There is a reason both national parties in the USA demonize communism and socialism… when will Americans wake up and realize the things they were taught to fear are the very things they need to embrace in order to not only resist… but create a future where we can all thrive?
My fear is that it may already be too late… but it begins with rejecting two nationalist parties that serve the interests of the elite. It begins by rejecting people like Elissa Slotkin.
