(Part 3/3) Zionism is Antisemitism
Part 3 of 3 deconstructing Western myths and vapid whatabouts meant to muddy the water of the unspeakable injustice that has been done to the Palestinian people. Shame on all of us who remain silent.

Part 1 laid down the foundation of Zionism, part 2 its application in the creation of Israel, part 3 the closing statement for what it all means today.
Make no mistake, there can be no debate. What is happening to the Palestinian people is a genocide. You need not ask yourself who you would have been in history, the moment demands an answer and most of Western society is failing.
The idea that Israel, a state based in occupation and terror has a right to defend itself is laughable once we lay out the history of Zionism, its co-option, and its application.
Defend themselves from what? The various reactions of the people they’ve been actively oppressing with Western support for 75 years now?
There is no “proper way” to resist kidnapping, torture, violent removal, starvation, bombings, rape, and death. Who are we to tell those whose survival has been the cost of Israel that they must “resist” in a way that is palatable to our vapid and privileged sense of morality?
Is Hamas extreme? Maybe… but whatever extreme one might classify them as, it pales in comparison to the extremism of Israel and the application of Zionism. There can be no worse example of human behavior than genocide, so any response to that would certainly pale in a comparison of extremism. It’s a false equivalence of the worst kind.
Even if one wanted to mistakenly blame and judge Hamas for the tone of their resistance to violent occupation, like most things it would still circle back to Israel itself.
As we have already laid out, first it is Israel and the West that have created the conditions that create the various forms of righteous resistance that we have witnessed. But even more directly, it was Israel itself that helped promote the precursors to Hamas that would eventually become the group itself. It was people like Netanyahu who openly promoted a foreign policy encouraging rival states to fund Hamas because it suited his agenda of further expansion for the occupying terrorist state of Israel.
“Violent middle eastern” (West Asian) people have always made for a convenient thing to point to in the justification of Western terrorism. Most citizens of the West have no sense of justice or cause and effect.
Fatah (commonly known today as the PLO) was a real threat to Israel, as identified and stated by Israel itself. In efforts to undermine this threat, Israel made a conscious and strategic decision to promote groups more aligned with Islamic fundamentalism in hopes that they would clash with more secular left wing minded groups like Fatah. It was a classic case of an ancient tactic, divide and conquer.
In the late 1970s, Israel began promoting the networks of Ahmed Yassin, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood who had his hand in many parts of Gaza. Through the 1970s and 1980s, Israel would grant him the ability to extend that network in hopes that he was “Fatah’s Achilles heel”. After the First Intifada in 1987, these networks would become the group now known as Hamas.
Even as Israel’s tone and approach began to change toward Hamas, there were still elements within their government apparatus that saw Hamas as a convenient opponent. Enter Netanyahu, who would suggest that countries like Turkey and Qatar should support, aid, and fund Hamas.
The whatbout Hamas pivot is not only a disgusting false equivalence between the perpetrators of genocide and those who resist their annihilation, but also a lie that ignores the material conditions created by the West and Israel as well as the purposeful strategic decisions made by the Israelis.
Zionism has existed for about 130 years, Hamas for about 35 years… the pivot ignores a century of ethnic cleansing, the material conditions that emerged, and the intentional strategy that led to its creation and advancement.
Those who pivot to Hamas, or ask of Israel’s right to defend itself at best offer up their own ignorance… at worst display their own profound immorality. What you do in this moment, how you speak on the genocide of the Palestinian people is a defining moment of character.
There is no way to truly calculate the total damage, devastation, and death done to Gaza. Israel has systematically decimated its infrastructure. The death toll is staggering just among those found and identified. Approximately 55,000 have been identified (we know the number is much higher by tens of thousands) and approximately 17,500 of them have been children. About half the population of Gaza is minors. This also includes 222 journalists and media workers, 1,580 healthcare workers, and 452 aid workers. Over a hundred thousand have been injured and wounded.
There have been documented attacks on 92% of homes, 95% of school buildings, 88% of commercial facilities, 81% of road networks, 156 hospitals and clinics, and 82% of cropland. 70% of all buildings in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed by Israel. Additionally, 89% of Gaza’s water and sanitation infrastructure has been partially or completely destroyed. These are the numbers of genocide, and each number represents loss of human life. (data comes from so.informed)
Resistance at any cost, there is no appropriate way to defend your home and people from mass slaughter. Free, free Palestine!
